ABOUT

ME

Dr. McDonald is a licensed psychologist in private practice in Huntsville, Alabama. He received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Auburn University and completed his clinical psychology internship at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill.

 

Dr. McDonald has worked in the mental health field since 1976 and as a licensed psychologist since 1988. During this time he has worked in a wide variety of clinical settings including adolescent treatment facilities, a university counseling center, community mental health centers, psychiatric inpatient programs, and VA hospital clinics. He has taught classes and lectured on a variety of topics including relaxation training, assertiveness, developmental psychology, and parent education. He has also been a clinical research investigator with the Medical Affiliated Research Center.

After receiving his doctorate he moved to Huntsville, AL and worked in the Huntsville-Madison County Mental Health Center and SouthPark Clinic. Dr. McDonald has been in private practice for 27 years providing psychological evaluation and treatment of adults, couples, and families. His areas of professional interest include marital and couples therapy, the treatment of depression and anxiety disorders, stress management, parenting, and psychological assessment.
